JUNE 07, 08, 14 & 15, 2025
PARQUE IBIRAPUERA, SÃO PAULO
In June 2025, Best of Blues and Rock celebrated its 12th edition with two intense weekends of music and culture at Ibirapuera Park. With impeccable curation, the festival brought together world legends and major Brazilian talents.
The first weekend presented a line-up that spoke directly to the contemporary adult audience, blending British alternative rock, Brazilian soul, national rock classics, and sophisticated jams. It was a mature, emotional, and technically flawless program, reflecting what we have been building in recent years: not just a music festival, but a plural experience for demanding listeners. On stage were Dave Matthews Band, Richard Ashcroft, Barão Vermelho, Vitor Kley, Paula Lima with her project Soul Lee – Paula Lima sings Rita Lee, and Cachorro Grande.
A festival that carries in its name the mission to gather the very best of blues and rock delivered, on the second weekend, a musical journey that spanned from the youthful energy of hard rock to the refinement of soul music, culminating in the historical weight of one of the greatest legends of British rock. Taking the stage were Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Judith Hill, Black Pantera, Marcão Britto & Thiago Castanho Charlie Brown Jr, Hurricanes, and Larissa Liveir.

THE BRANDS AT THE 12th EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL

DAVE MATTHEWS
BAND
Two historic nights at Best of Blues and Rock 2025. Dave Matthews Band stepped on stage and, from the very first chords, turned any expectation into pure euphoria. Between improvisations, charismatic interactions with the audience, and the contagious energy of each member, the band proved why it is one of the biggest names in world music.
For three hours each night, the group played through a generous selection of hits spanning their career. Iconic songs such as Crash Into Me, Satellite, Ants Marching, and What Would You Say echoed throughout Ibirapuera Park, making the audience sing, dance, and feel deeply moved in an unforgettable celebration.
The band’s delivery was total: flawless arrangements, enviable synergy on stage, and visible emotion at returning to Brazil—this time at an open-air festival before a passionate crowd. One of the most memorable moments was when Brazilian harmonica player Gabriel Grossi joined the band, creating a unique encounter between DMB’s sound and Brazilian talent.
More than concerts, they were epic performances filled with virtuosity, emotion, and complicity, leaving the crowd with hearts full of love, peace, and happiness, and, above all, with the sense of having witnessed the very best of live music.

ALICE COOPER
Blending trash horror, magnetic stage presence, and a repertoire packed with classics, Alice Cooper stole the show during the second weekend of Best of Blues and Rock. The concert marked the long-awaited return of the icon to Brazil, eight years after his last performance.
On stage, Alice Cooper delivered everything fans expected, and then some. The set recreated old newspaper covers, which he tore apart with a sword during his triumphant entrance. From that moment on, the audience was taken on a true journey through his dark universe: sharp guitars, heavy riffs, stage blood, theatrical beheadings, raven assistants, a rag doll, sinister dancers, and, of course, the trademark black top hat and painted eyes.
The band, extremely tight, guaranteed the weight and energy of the show. Alongside Alice were Nita Strauss, Ryan Roxie, and Tommy Henriksen on guitars, Chuck Garric on bass, and Glen Sobel on drums.
“Billion Dollar Babies” fired up the crowd, who sang the chorus along with Cooper—an audience full of top hats and, just like the artist, with painted eyes.
Even if shock rock no longer shocks as it did in the 1970s, the truth is that few artists today deliver a show as visual, theatrical, and captivating as Alice Cooper.
In times of increasingly generic spectacles, Best of Blues and Rock continues to give a live masterclass on how to stage a true rock show.

DEEP PURPLE
When the lights dimmed for Deep Purple’s entrance, it was clear this was more than just a show: it was a living celebration of rock history. Legendary and timeless, the band brought to Best of Blues and Rock 2025 a true tribute to the history of rock. With decades of touring and a legacy that spans generations, they showed why they remain a global reference, combining energy and emotion in every chord.
The connection with the Brazilian audience was evident from the start: opening with Highway Star drove the crowd into immediate frenzy, singing along with intensity and proving the strong bond that unites the band and Brazil.
Closing the 12th edition of the festival in great style, Deep Purple delivered a breathtaking performance worthy of their global status. A show that reaffirmed not only the band’s greatness but also the transformative power of live music: ending another unforgettable chapter of Best of Blues and Rock with a golden flourish.

RICHARD
ASHCROFT
For the first time in Brazil, and with British punctuality, Richard Ashcroft took the stage on the opening nights, starting with a powerful trio from The Verve era: Sonnet, Space and Time, and Weeping Willow, all from the classic Urban Hymns (1997). The atmosphere was pure nostalgia, as if time itself had slowed down.
With his serene presence and intact voice, Ashcroft turned the concert hall into a sonic time capsule where each chord echoed long-stored memories.
One of the most moving moments was a tribute to Brazilian Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna, as Richard dedicated Break The Night with Colour while wearing a shirt with the three-time champion’s image. The emotion continued with The Drugs Don’t Work and Lucky Man, sung in unison by the packed audience at the Ibirapuera Auditorium.
But the peak came with the iconic Bittersweet Symphony, played in its original key, leading the crowd into a collective catharsis and setting the perfect mood for one of the most anticipated shows of the 2025 edition.

JUDITH HILL
The singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist performed in Brazil for the first time during Best of Blues and Rock 2025. An artist whose mission goes beyond music, Judith is not just a performer; she is a symbol of female and Black resistance in a historically male-dominated industry.
Alongside her parents (Robert “Pee Wee” Hill on bass and Michiko Hill on keyboards), Judith literally brought her roots on stage. Their family bond overflowed in their chemistry, glances, and absolutely organic synergy.
Having shared the stage with icons like Prince and Michael Jackson, Judith carries forward a legacy that blends soul, funk, R&B, and blues, always with a modern twist and magnetic stage presence. At Best of Blues and Rock, she wowed the audience with a show that went far beyond vocal technique.
Her songs were more than music: they were manifestos. She sings about identity, resistance, self-love, and breaking barriers with disarming naturalness, sometimes at the piano, sometimes with a guitar, sometimes dancing under purple lights evoking the spirit of Prince, her mentor.

Revisiting their trajectory with Rodrigo Suricato on vocals, the one-hour set lifted spirits before the international headliners.
From the founders, only keyboardist Maurício Barros and drummer Guto Goffi remain. Yet the addition of bassist Marcio Alencar and guitarist Fernando Magalhães worked perfectly, getting the crowd to sing along to the band’s four decades of history. Percussionist Cezinha also joined as a special guest.
Past members were honored in the setlist, including solo works: "Codinome Beija-Flor", "O Tempo Não Para", "Todo Amor que Houver Nessa Vida", and "Exagerado" (by Cazuza after leaving the band), as well as "Amor pra Recomeçar" (by Frejat), celebrated by the audience from the first chords. Even Raul Seixas was remembered, with a cover of "Tente Outra Vez". Classics like "Bete Balanço", "Por Você", and "Puro Êxtase" carried the “Do Tamanho da Vida” tour spirit.

VITOR KLEY
Returning to Best of Blues and Rock after his 2020 pandemic-era performance (recorded and streamed), Vitor Kley this time performed live and conquered the festival audience with his charisma.
At 30, he delivered hits like "O Sol", which had the crowd singing along, plus other successes that kept spirits high. On the festival’s opening Saturday, he also premiered two unreleased tracks, "De Novo" and "Arco-Íris", both filled with his trademark positive messages.
In a special moment, he showed that music transcends genres by paying tribute to Oasis with heartfelt renditions of "Don’t Look Back in Anger" and "Wonderwall". The audience joined in, proving that when the vibe is right, everyone gets on board.
Vitor Kley proved that his energy and authenticity resonate even on the most rock-oriented stages.

PAULA LIMA
On June 8, Paula Lima brought her show Soul Lee – Paula Lima sings Rita Lee to the Ibirapuera Park, a vibrant tribute to the queen of Brazilian rock. Even under cloudy skies, she warmed the crowd with her “black ’n’ roll” style, performing classics like "Mania de Você" and "Lança-Perfume" with groove and soul.
Balancing respect and originality, Paula gave Rita’s songs a new texture with her funk/soul touch. Hits like "Agora Só Falta Você", "Ovelha Negra", and "Nem Luxo, Nem Lixo" gained danceable, sophisticated arrangements full of swing and personality.
It was an emotional show, especially when Paula shared that she had first met Rita Lee at the same stage in 2004. She surprised fans by adding "Menino Bonito" to the setlist for the first time on the Soul Lee tour, creating an unforgettable, intimate moment.

BLACK
PANTERA

Black Pantera proved they are here to stay not only for the quality of their repertoire and performance, but also for the message they carry. The trio combines Charles’ heavy vocals, Chaene’s groovy bass, and Rodrigo’s powerful drumming that ties everything together. Listening on streaming platforms gives a sense of their strength, but nothing compares to seeing them live.
Choosing a highlight is hard: they maintain a high level from start to finish. As always, "Fogo Nos Racistas" ignited the crowd, with Charles leading fans in shouting against prejudice.
Standouts also included "Candeia" and "Provérbios", from their latest album Perpétuo (2024), which gained even more power live, along with the historic anti-racism anthem "Perpétuo" and the moving "Tradução", dedicated to mothers everywhere.

CACHORRO
GRANDE
The sun was still shining bright when Cachorro Grande opened the 2025 edition of Best of Blues and Rock at 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 8, with a sequence of hits marking their 25-year career.
Celebrating their anniversary, they brought to São Paulo the same setlist as their landmark concert in Porto Alegre’s Araújo Vianna Auditorium, the city where it all began.
It was the kind of performance that proves why Cachorro Grande has a permanent place in the hearts of Brazilian rock fans.

MARCÃO BRITTO &
THIAGO CASTANHO
Marcão Britto and Thiago Castanho, joined by Rafael Carleto (vocals), Denis “Mascote” Rodrigues (bass), and drummers André “Pinguim” Ruas and Bruno Graveto, opened the second Saturday at Ibirapuera Park with an explosion of nostalgia and skill.
The sextet delivered a repertoire filled with classics like "Me Encontra", "Céu Azul", "Só os Loucos Sabem", and "Proibida Pra Mim", taking the audience on a journey through Charlie Brown Jr.’s legacy.
One highlight was the perfect interplay between drummers Pinguim and Bruno, whose synchronized beats gave the show a unique pulse. Marcão and Thiago’s sharp riffs and solos carried the band’s emotional weight with power and intensity.
This project not only celebrates Charlie Brown Jr.’s legacy but also reaffirms its relevance for old and new fans alike. As Thiago told Rolling Stone Brasil: “This is how it will be: a punch in the face, rock and roll in the veins.” The crowd agreed, singing passionately and keeping the band’s memory alive.

HURRICANES
Opening the second Sunday, Hurricanes brought their classic rock revival with a Brazilian twist. Drawing inspiration from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Rainbow, the band impressed with sharp technique and, above all, passion.
More than a revival, they represent a new wave of Brazilian bands unafraid to flirt with vintage sounds while remaining original. In a scene dominated by pop and urban music, seeing an original rock band at a major festival stage was refreshing, and necessary.
The vocalist showed charisma and stage control, while the guitarist delivered long, expressive solos worthy of arenas. By the end, Hurricanes had not just warmed up the audience but prepared it for the night ahead with Judith Hill and Deep Purple.

LARISSA LIVEIR
On June 14, Larissa Liveir shone like a vibrant dawn on the Best of Blues and Rock stage. Known for her viral guitar videos, she finally had her big live debut.
The leap from screen to stage was pure emotion: the girl from Minas, self-taught and raised on Guitar Hero, now stood under real spotlights before a live audience. It was proof that the impossible can become tangible.
Her setlist was an electric mix of rock, blues, and metal anthems—Crazy Train, Stairway to Heaven, Chuck Berry, and Van Halen—all delivered with precision and raw feeling. Each cover became not just a tribute but a personal reinvention.
In a magical moment, Nita Strauss (who would later play with Alice Cooper) joined Larissa on stage, making her radiant with joy. In her own words, it was “a great surprise and joy” to share that moment with her idol.
The show was living proof that dreams born at home with a phone and tripod can resonate before historic crowds. A new star was born, shaped by determination, talent, and real connection.
